IronPlanet Closes Strong Third Quarter
YTD Performance Up 30% Over Prior Year
Pleasanton, CA — October 15, 2007 — IronPlanet™
(www.ironplanet.com) announced third quarter gross auction sales of
$47 million. In total, IronPlanet auction participants have bought
and sold nearly $153 million of equipment since January 1, a growth
of 30 percent over the same period last year.
IronPlanet is the leading marketplace for used heavy equipment
and we remain on track for another record breaking year, said IronPlanet
CEO Greg Owens. IronPlanet continues to focus on what is most important
to our customers - faster time to market, better prices through a
global audience, the industry's lowest selling costs and IronPlanet's
guaranteed inspection reports.
During the third quarter IronPlanet averaged a global audience of more than 7,000 visitors per auction.
IronPlanet offers a wide range of equipment, and its twice-monthly auctions allow me to access good quality stock on a regular basis, said David Jones, an IronPlanet buyer from Australia. I have found the IronPlanet auction and payment process to be very professionally organized and because of the guaranteed inspection reports I know what I see is what I get.
Bringing a worldwide audience of buyers to every auction has helped IronPlanet maintain strong growth in its seller community as well. In the third quarter, 30 percent of sellers were using IronPlanet for the first time.
IronPlanet is a profitable, rapidly growing marketplace, and it is the established
leader in the online used heavy equipment category, Owens said. This company is a game
changer with tremendous growth opportunity in a space that is rapidly changing the way
that buying and selling occurs in the capital equipment market.
I was told that IronPlanet could reach across the world and find people to buy my equipment, said Ronald Bridge of R&R Bridge & Son Logging, Inc., who sold more than 40 items in a one-owner liquidation on IronPlanet. At the end of the day, I came out way ahead of where IronPlanet told me I should be and I couldn't be happier. I would recommend IronPlanet to anyone who asks.
