IronPlanet Completes $7.3 Million Auction

PLEASANTON, Calif. – August 17, 2005 – IronPlanet (www.ironplanet.com), the third-largest auction company of heavy equipment in North America, sold $7.3 million of equipment and trucks in its Aug. 11 auction.

“When you compare the location of the equipment to the winning bidders’ locations, you can see the value our auctions give both buyers and sellers,” commented Mike Rich, vice-president of sales at IronPlanet.

Rich referred to the results page for each sale available on IronPlanet’s website, saying, “not only can you see the highest bid for each piece, but also you can see the equipment’s location, the buyer’s location and the number of bids. By clicking on the name of the equipment, you can look further into the inspection report.”

The auction drew over 7,400 registered auction attendees from across the U.S. and 16 other countries. Thirty bidders vied for a 2001 Caterpillar 416D backhoe loader that sold for $42,000. A 2002 Caterpillar 345BL II track excavator sold for the highest bid of $183,000. A 2002 Caterpillar D6MLGP crawler tractor located in Florida sold to a buyer in Nigeria for $83,000.

Founded in 1999, IronPlanet has grown to be the third-largest auction company of heavy equipment. With investors such as Caterpillar, Komatsu and Volvo, IronPlanet sells a broad range of used equipment including construction, agricultural and trucks through online auctions. IronPlanet is the only auction company to provide detailed, guaranteed inspection reports for used equipment in its auctions.
