IronPlanet Auction draws Over 7,700 Registered Attendees
PLEASANTON, Calif. – Feb. 23, 2005 – IronPlanet (www.ironplanet.com), the third-largest auctioneer of heavy equipment in North America, sold $3.1 million of equipment and trucks in its Feb. 10 auction.
The Feb. 10 sale drew over 7,700 registered auction attendees with bidders from the US and seven other countries. On average, an item sold to a buyer more than 800 miles from its selling location, with 83% of the equipment going to an out-of-state buyer.
“With the convenience of the internet, guaranteed inspection reports, a shortage of new equipment and strong market demand, it’s no wonder we’re bringing so many people to our auctions,” says Mike Rich, vice-president of sales for IronPlanet. “If you’ve ever considered selling your assets, I do not think there will ever be a better time to get a good return than now. The market for equipment is very strong and we certainly have a demand for more equipment than is available to sell.”
Founded in 1999, IronPlanet has grown to be the third-largest auctioneer of heavy equipment. Financially backed by Caterpillar, Komatsu and Volvo, IronPlanet sells a broad range of used equipment including construction, agricultural and trucks through online auctions. IronPlanet is the only auction company to provide detailed, guaranteed inspection reports for used equipment in its auction.
