IronPlanet Completes $3.1 Million One-Owner Auction
PLEASANTON, Calif. – December 14, 2005 – IronPlanet (www.ironplanet.com), the third-largest auction company of heavy equipment in North America, sold $3.1 million of equipment in its Dec. 14 auction for Danny Webb Construction in Beckley, WV.
“The overall experience was, to say the least, a very good one,” commented owner Danny Webb.
Over 8,000 registered auction attendees from across the U.S. and 8 other countries participated in the unreserved online auction. The auction took place online with all bidding over the internet, accounting for 100% of the auction’s total sales. IronPlanet’s auctions are exclusively online, allowing buyers to bid from anywhere in the world.
The auction included 197 pieces of equipment all located in West Virginia. A 2000 Caterpillar D6RXL tractor sold for $130,000. Thirty bidders vied for a Ford farm tractor that sold for $8,000. A 1996 Caterpillar D6HIIXL tractor sold to a buyer in Saskatchewan for $63,000.
