Tractor Generates 178 Bids At IronPlanet Auction

PLEASANTON, Calif. – November 9, 2005 – IronPlanet (www.ironplanet.com), the third-largest auction company of heavy equipment in North America, sold $4.6 million of equipment and trucks in its Nov. 3 auction.

After 178 bids, a 1982 Caterpillar D8R tractor sold for $92,000. The 23 bidders were located in 10 U.S. states and four countries, including Costa Rica, Mexico, New Zealand and Tanzania.

“What other auction company brings the auction to buyers around the world, returning true global market value to sellers, and saves both parties from leaving the office?” says Rob Alleger, IronPlanet’s CEO.

The auction drew over 7,000 registered bidders from across the U.S. and 23 other countries. Forty-six bidders competed for a 1997 Genie TMZ 34-19 lift that sold for $12,300. A 1996 Caterpillar 815F embankment compactor sold for $160,000. A 2002 Volvo EC360LC excavator located in Texas sold to a buyer in Peru for $65,000.

Founded in 1999, IronPlanet has grown to be the third-largest auction company of heavy equipment. With investors such as Caterpillar, Komatsu and Volvo, IronPlanet sells a broad range of used equipment including construction, agricultural and trucks through online auctions. IronPlanet is the only auction company to provide detailed, guaranteed inspection reports for used equipment in its auctions.
