Florida Bidder Wins Two 2001 Cat 966G Loaders at IronPlanet Auction
PLEASANTON, Calif. - January 31, 2005 - IronPlanet (www.ironplanet.com), the third-largest auctioneer of heavy equipment in North America, sold $2.5 million of equipment and trucks in its January 27 auction. Two 2001 Caterpillar 966G Wheel Loaders located in Texas sold to the highest bidder in Florida for $151,000 and $142,000.
"This is a great example of a bidder taking advantage of buying equipment without having to travel to an auction, inspect the equipment, or even set foot out of the 'Sunshine State' in the dead of winter. Good business does not always have to be difficult," says Mike Rich, vice president of sales at IronPlanet.
The January 27 sale drew over 8,700 registered auction attendees with bidders from the US and 15 other countries. On average, an item sold to a buyer more than 700 miles from its selling location, with 81% of the equipment going to an out-of-state buyer.
Founded in 1999, IronPlanet has grown to be the third-largest auctioneer of heavy equipment. Financially backed by Caterpillar, Komatsu and Volvo, IronPlanet sells a broad range of used equipment including construction, agricultural and trucks through online auctions.
IronPlanet is the only auction company to provide detailed, guaranteed inspection reports for used equipment in its auction. If you are interested in buying or selling used equipment, go to www.ironplanet.com.
