Position: Risk and Claims Manager
Location: Pleasanton, CA

Position Summary:

Develops and administers risk-management policies and procedures to comply with safety legislation.  Also responsible for developing plans to minimize asset loss and handling the resolution of insurance claims.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for investigating, evaluating and managing risks and settlement of claims
  • Manages the companies insurance contracts/policies and endorsements for accuracy and completeness
  • Reviews and approves all insurance invoices for accounting, participates in the allocation of insurance as deemed necessary
  • Manages and ensures timely renewal for all insurance contracts
  • Evaluates the baseline risk exposures for new business ventures/exposures and  working with management and the company’s insurance broker, recommends cost effective insurance solutions
  • Provides analytical and technical support to determine the accuracy of claims
  • Resolves claims across the company with interdepartmental coordination and due diligence
  • Provide analytical and technical support in the coordination of loss prevention reporting and claims management.
  • Identifies potential liability issues for the company.
  • Project and estimate expected losses to assist the CFO in setting loss reserves
  • Maintain records, reports and file management for claims paid and resolved.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in risk management .
  • Minimum 3 years in claims management .


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Solid experience in conducting due diligence analysis on claims and disputes.
  • Previous experience in the construction or heavy equipment fields a plus
  • Thorough understanding of claims administration, insurance policies and general insurance concepts.
  • Analytical computer skills .
  • Ability to deliver on multiple priorities with little direction.
  • Manage comfortably through ambiguity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
